Spiritual Vitae

Dr. Eric William Baron vonAnderseck, Th.D, D.D

Beginning in 1971 to the present, Dr. vonAnderseck has observed, recorded, studied, and documented personal experiences of Christ-Centered Spiritual Transformation. He has recorded over 3,000 dreams and over 6,000 spiritual experiences.  (In addition to these over 9,000 documentations, in the last 3 decades he has logged in 2,016,000 minutes of prayer, read through the Bible chapter by chapter 90 times, and offered over 146,000 spiritual sacrifices of prophecy).

A Spiritual Vitae is the collection of recorded, tangible experiences that are systemically associated with Christ-Centered Spiritual Transformation (CCST). These are not random experiences, subject to happenchance, but causally linked to the Second Covenant terms and protocols God has established for deep, sustained contact for the redemption and care of the soul.

Spiritual experiences do not merely have a cumulative value, but a systemic value. A true Christian Spiritual Vitae (CSV) is not composed of unrelated moments of peace, or moments of clarity that are brought about through therapeutic measures. Neither is a CSV composed of revelations based upon one’s signature or aspiration. Rather, it represents an array of integrated definitive experiences that provide the tangible evidences of Christ-Centered Spiritual Transformation that builds rather than merely accumulate.

Experiences associated with CCST are sanctified by God and are not induced by drugs. In other words there are no psychoactive agents responsible for the experience. They are not generated through hypnosis, chanting, icons, prayer positions, stones, candles, or diet. They are generated by God because Jesus promised, “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him” John 14:21. This “manifestation” takes place on a daily basis to those who are in covenant with God and keep Jesus’ Second Covenant commandments.

The Spiritual Vitae raises the bar of excellence in ministry and credibility for ministers.  Those who say they can lead others through Christ-Centered Spiritual Transformation (CCST) must first have these experiences in order to give this direction.  It is unethical to provide a concept of healing for the soul through Jesus Christ, but then not provide the pattern for the experience. It is also unethical to provide the concept of healing through Jesus Christ and then set the pattern in a paradoxical system that precipitates failure. The lack of a  CSV speaks of a lack of experience in Christ-Centered Spiritual Transformation.

Questions that are most often asked in regard to Spiritual Vitae:

  1. I believe spiritual experiences are real, but I also believe people experience things through suggestion. How can I tell the difference?

Answer: Yes, people do experience spiritual phenomena that are generated through suggestion. We see this many times when faith participants are worked up into frenzy through Program Exhilaration. Faith practitioners are pressed to emulate a biblical character to try to fulfill scripture. Aggressive emotions are excused as “rage” against the devil, the power of conviction is mistaken for the power of grace, and the truth of one’s own principle is mistaken for the truth of Christ. Under the influence of frenzy and the aspiration to emulate, believers can hallucinate, hear a revelatory voice, or take on animal behavior. This Induced Insight Phenomena works with an earthly spirit to confirm the need for a spiritual experience, but does not form Christ in the soul. The conscience still reflects the conviction of sin rather than the virtues of Christ. The experience is therefore spurious. The experience, not joined to God, must be maintained by the will, which in turn wearies the soul. There are many spiritual experiences that are real, but not sanctified by God and do not bring the soul into rest.

  1. Isn’t it true that many people testify to God touching their lives? Are these the things we should journal?

Answer:  It is true that the grace of God is poured out upon humanity for the purpose of salvation. People experience answers to prayer, they experience the manifestations of the Spirit of God through the operation of the gifts, miracles, healings, divine interventions, dreams and visions. God’s righteous judgments are seen every day as He moves upon the lives of people in every denomination. He heals, He answers prayer, He issues grace for salvation to draw all souls unto Himself. There are many testimonies to God’s goodness, compassion, and mercy. We listen to testimonials and thank God as we wonder at His power to heal and restore. However, when these stories become fables they destroy faith. An element has been removed from the testimony, which removes Christ from the witness, and an element has been added to the testimony, which seducing spirits use to confirm the imagination; the momentum of faith is then carried by the power of human aspiration. God provides a sign of His existence and love for humanity and people build with the sign rather than build with faith. This is how fables are born. A true CSV is not a collection of random expressions of the graces of God that are mixed with human aspiration. A true CSV chronicles the cycles of growth in Christ.

  1. I have had many revelations as to the condition of humanity and my own condition and the need to turn my life around and make it meaningful. Is this something that I should journal?

Answer: The fact that people around the world can use different belief systems and 12-step programs to address personal and social ills points to the fact that humanity is aware of their separation from God. Some people are simply looking for reparation and not redemption. Faith participants should be clear about their objective. One can experience a type of spiritual awakening in regard to the high call of social change, but this should not be confused with spiritual transformation that comes through Jesus Christ. Themistic Law addresses reparation. The Law of Grace and Truth addressed redemption. These are the things that God manifests through Jesus Christ and should be journaled.

  1. Didn’t God show Himself to us through creation? I feel a certain oneness and connection to God through nature. I like to write these types of thoughts down.

God put variations in the signature of the soul just as He put smell and beauty in nature. People can feel a connection with God through either the design of their signature or the design of nature. However, He put the design of faith in Jesus Christ because He set our approach to Him on the basis of covenant, not on the basis of contact with His creation. God created all things, but selected Jesus Christ as the contact point for faith. When the serenity of nature is confused with the peace of God people form their own ideas of faith based on these subjective values. While serenity does impact the soul with quietness, it does not carry the same design within the soul that God has sanctified through Jesus Christ. There is also a difference between “quietness” and the buffer for the soul that God provides through His peace when faith participants use the spiritual tools of the Second Covenant. The buffer of peace is designed by God to carry the power of Christ against the law of sin and death; the quietness we experience in the presence of nature does not. People can enjoy God’s creation and give Him thanks, but should not confuse the design of nature with the design of faith. God shows Himself to us through Jesus Christ for faith.

  1. Aren’t spiritual experiences by and large attempts by religious people trying to make meaning out of events, to make sense of life’s experiences?

Answer: While some do try to make meaning out of events to make sense of their life’s experiences, the true pattern of faith does not follow the path of life’s discovery. God has set the design of Christ within the framework and structure of knowledge that in turn directly establishes function, which in turn determines experience. There are cognitive evaluations that take place that are not subjective. Because the experiences of life are very real, and people do learn from them, there is a tendency to reduce IDCCST to these types of experiences. We can read about people’s many life experiences in inspirational stories everywhere. Some of life’s experiences are funny, and some are sad. Faith practitioners found they could engage believers on an intimate, personal level by using stories that touched the heartstrings. The preaching of the gospel was reduced to the gathering and distribution of life’s experiences coupled with scripture. These stories offer the audience a chance to echo back shared common emotions. The authors of these testimonials talk about God showing them how to better live their lives, how to be on fire for God, and how to be a better Christian.

There are many peaks and valleys in life. Each peak and valley opens another door for fables rather than faith as these testimonies unfold with the common threads of life that are familiar to all. Earthy inspirations come through the door of the senses and speak to man about himself and his life’s journey, but do not speak of faith in God. “They, measuring themselves among themselves, are not wise,” II Cor.10:12.

To better understand the design, structure, and function of faith in concrete terms we can look at what takes place when someone is hired to take a position within a firm. That person does not report to work to “discover” their job. A corporate structure has already been designed and implemented for them to function at their post. Their job description is an extension of that design. People do not have to make meaning out of the events of their job because the relation of one task to another is part of the symmetry of the corporation. Spiritually speaking, when people try to make sense of events by reading into them it is for the purpose of trying to discover themselves through spiritual connections. The faith of Christ was not designed for self-discovery, but for faith that unfolds Christ and brings healing to the soul. These experiences are journaled with purpose.

The True Biblical Pattern for Christ-Centered Spiritual Transformation

The Spiritual Vitae is the true biblical pattern. From Genesis to Revelation we see that God always established faith that was based upon knowledge that is joined in equity to experience. Faith cannot be joined in equity to knowledge apart from experience, or experience apart from knowledge.

Dr. vonAnderseck has reintroduced the concept of the Spiritual Vitae as an essential documentation that chronicles Christ-Centered Spiritual Transformation. Beginning in 1971 to the present, he has consistently recorded over 3,000 dreams and over 6,000 spiritual experiences. His dream anthology documents the cycles of spiritual growth through dream interpretation. When in covenant with God, dreams are used as a type of assessment strategy, a means of God communicating information to the dreamer about the cavern of the soul that is being visited by the Spirit of God and targeted for healing. God is not approaching us on the basis of psychology, but on the basis of faith. Taken out of context, psychology makes one ponder on the polarizing nature of man and works with the imagination and available information to answer questions about behavior. Humanity is capable of advancement through contemplation. One can advance from one position to another by initiating course corrections. However, these course corrections are not sanctified by the Spirit of God. By coming through the door of faith in Jesus Christ believers experience the power of God for healing.

God gave us our senses, but not for faith; He gave us Jesus Christ for our faith. Satan enters into earthly inspirations to direct man’s attention inward. Man tries to understand himself and then tries to see God from what he has understood of himself, thus transposing this philosophy into some kind of revelation. This is when it becomes a fable. The inspiration in the fable allows you to reciprocate concerning the psychology and course corrections, but not reciprocate faith. Believers have not received an education that allows them to discern the difference. Students enrolled in Second 8th Week University are learning the value of a CSV first hand.
